Designing means learning to coexist with time, with its disorder, its turns, and its uncomfortable pauses. Not everything happens in a straight line. Processes overlap, ideas mature slowly, some projects arrive early while others wait for their moment. Some last days, others weeks, and some take months. Designing is also about learning to listen to those rhythms.
In a fast-paced world, making time to listen becomes a form of care for each project. Slowing down to look more closely, to make decisions, to define what is worth sustaining and what can be let go. External speed does not always match the speed of thought, and everything needs time to settle, to make mistakes, and to try again.
I often remind myself that time is the most valuable and fragile thing we have to offer. Choosing who we think, discuss, and build with is a key decision. Here’s to another year of choosing where, and with whom, we invest our time, care, and dedication.
